Bhadrakali Athletic Club, now established in its own premises at 123 Kabi Kirandhan Road , Bhadrakali , was registered as a society on 1975. The founder members started the Association with the objective of pursuing social, cultural and charitable activities, and providing temporary accommodation to pilgrims. It was an endeavor of just seven determined individuals to start with. Since then, the Association, now of 42 years and presently has 55  registered members. Together with their families, it forms an active an enthusiastic group of Bhadrakali area who meet at the Association regularly to pursue their social cultural and literary interests.

The Association had performed its first Durga Puja celebration in 1979. It was a beginning that has gone on uninterrupted till date. Thereafter, the puja is being celebrated in its own premises.

The Association started organising an annual Sports meet from 1972 primarily to cater to the children of the neighboring areas. The Ground floor of the Association building was constructed in 1991. As the Association does not undertake any commercial activity and runs on contribution and donations from members and patrons, constructing the buildings and facilities have not been easy tasks. Despite acute financial constraint, the premises could be slowly enlarged with the help of such donations and the meager surpluses that each year’s Durga Puja generated. This was possible only because of the sheer determination of its members.

Presently, A hall where Durga Puja is celebrated every year and the Association office room exists in the ground floor. The roof top with non-permanent covers and partitions serves as a Proposed Medical Unit to serve the local needy people.

The Association has a rich heritage and glorious tradition of undertaking socio-cultural activities.
